The standard certification is from Emergency First Response, an independent company working in partnership with PADI. This does not disqualify divers from progressing to higher levels if they already hold equivalent qualifications form another certifying organisation, but it is the standard course included with higher level PADI courses. Recognized in over 80 countries the course conforms to internationally recognized First Aid standards. A mandatory addition to your training as a PADI Rescue Diver, and all following courses, is an EFR certification or equivalent. These courses, although not designed by PADI, are thoroughly professional first aid and response courses structured around the practical teaching style PADI students will be used to, and is required to be refreshed for further training courses.
